Advanced Scuba Certification in Utila Honduras

Utila island is all about scuba. I’m guessing there must be 30 or more diving schools on the small island. Every other business is a dive school. Dive schools try to lure you in as soon as you get off the boat by offering free rooms, free tuktuk taxis to their shops and more. The first question anyone asks you when you meet them is “are you diving on the island” and “which dive shop are you with?” The competition reminded me a lot of rival high school football teams with everyone rooting for their own shop bragging it was the best. I choose to stay at Underwater Vision Diving School where I completed seven dives for my Advanced Diving Certification (having done my Basic Open Water Certification two years earlier). The cost for seven dives and certification was $262 (which included several free nights stay).
