Riding a Trishaw in Malaka, Malaysia
It is a competitive business trying to get tourists to take a ride in your trishaw in Malaka, Malaysia. In order to convince tourists to pay 40 rinkets an hour (about $13 USA), owners of the trishaws have gone to great lengths to decorate their rides with colorful plastic flowers, paint and portable boom boxes that are so loud the seats vibrate. What kind of music do they play? Well, its an individual choice, but typically you’ll hear arab or indian disco-tech music thumping loudly as the bikes go cruising by. Oh, and at night they are even more spectacular with portable light systems. You have to see it to believe it. I highly recommend riding in one as it will be an experience you’ll never forget.
