All You Can Eat Buffet for $1.00!

buffetlineTaiwan is amazing and I’m really enjoying my time at Nanhua University here where my girlfriend is attending school. One of my favorite things about Taiwan  is the food and I am extremely fortunate to have landed right in the middle of one of the best food deals I’ve seen while traveling. On the east side of the campus at Nanhua University is the volunteer run student vegetarian restaurant.

All You Can Eat for One Dollar

Actually the cost is $30 NTD. But the conversion rate is 30 to 1, so it really is one American dollar for all you can eat. You simply can’t beat a deal like this. The food is amazing and any dish could be considered among the gourmet quality in the USA. Each day a base of white rice is served from a big tub along with about eight to 10 different dishes. Some usually two are just vegetables prepared with amazing flavors. Usually they have one or two with some sort of noodle and there is always one type of tofu with veggies. In addition they also offer two kinds of soup. Drinks are not served as typically Taiwanese consider the soup to be a drink and it is to be consumed after the main dishes are eaten. If you are in the area around lunch time, this is a absolute must to experience (even if you aren’t fond of veggies, you’ll love this food!)

This is a typical lunch although in this photo I filled my soup bowl with potato salad. Later after finishing the potato salad, I filled it wish soup.
